Is this the same as a class action?
Usually not. In a mass tort your claim stays individual and is valued on your own facts and injuries; cases are grouped only for pretrial efficiency. In a class action you are typically part of one collective claim with one collective outcome.
Why is funding harder to get on these?
Because value is genuinely unknown until a settlement structure exists. Before that, a funder is pricing a claim nobody can size yet, so early advances are smaller. Once tiers are set, more usually becomes available.
My firm advertised heavily and now I hear nothing. Is that normal?
Unfortunately it is common. Volume firms sign large numbers of claimants and communication suffers. You are entitled to ask your attorney where your claim stands and what the next milestone is.
Can I take an advance if my claim has not been valued yet?
Sometimes, at a conservative amount. Be especially careful reading the terms here, because these cases run for years and time is what makes any funding expensive.
